We hope you’ll find answers to your questions here. If not, please get in touch!
- What will I learn?
For group workshops, the recipes will be advertised in advance. They may change slightly on the day due to availability of ingredients. For private groups, you can choose to cook what you like. Rachel is experienced in a wide range of cuisines, so whether you want to learn how to cook a signature dish, get to grips with specific skills, or work with some key ingredients, she will be delighted to help.
- What is included?
All our lessons include ingredients, recipes and tuition from a professional chef.
- Where do workshops take place?
The workshops take place in a lovely purpose-built teaching kitchen in East Finchley (Northern Line).
- How can I get there?
The kitchen is a short walk from East Finchley station (Northern Line) and is on a number of bus routes. There are parking restrictions during the week and parking is limited, so we actively encourage you to take public transport wherever possible. You can plan your journey using the TFL website, which will give you details of trains and buses to help you plan your journey.
- What equipment do I need to have?
Rachel will provide all equipment, so all you need to do is come along and enjoy the class.
- What should I wear?
It’s best to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little messy, as well as flat, comfortable shoes. Rachel will provide aprons, so you don’t need to bring your own.
- How much time should I allow?
Workshop times vary depending on what we’re making and the group size. Most last approximately 2.5-3.5 hours, although it can be hard to say exactly when workshops will finish. Depending on what you are making, it usually includes time to eat the food you’ve made – after all that cooking you probably deserve a nice meal.
- What happens if I need to cancel or rearrange?
Once you have confirmed the date, we will ask you to pay a deposit for group workshops, or the full amount for small group or public workshops. If you need to re-schedule or cancel, we will always do our best to help. If you cancel more than 7 days in advance of the date booked, we will give you a partial refund, or the option to book another date. If you need to cancel in the week before the workshop, the deposit will always be non-refundable, as we will have already bought ingredients and other equipment.
- How do I book?
There are a number of events that you can book yourself onto using Eventbrite. Have a look on the ‘What’s On’ page in the menu bar above for details and bookings.
For private groups, the best way to book is to fill out the enquiry form by clicking the ‘enquire now’ button at the top of this page. We will get back to you as soon possible
- I’m only available during the day/at weekends/in the evening. Is that ok?
That’s fine. Rachel’s Kitchen can be booked for whenever is convenient for you.
- Can I buy a gift voucher?
Yes, gift vouchers make really lovely presents. Click the link here to find out more. We can email gift vouchers to you or to the recipient, and they are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
You can also include an apron with the voucher as an extra special gift.
- Where do you buy your food from?
We care passionately about good quality food.
Please let us know if you’d like details of our suppliers and see our sustainability, sourcing and recycling policy for more information.
- What about allergies or dietary requirements?
Please let us know if there’s anything we need to be aware of, and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements. We use foods that contain allergens in the kitchen, so unfortunately we are unable to cater to severe food allergies.
